How to Prepare Your Attic for Cellulose Wool Installation

Installing cellulose insulation is relatively quick and hassle-free. The material is delivered to the attic throug a specializ hose, and it contains no irritating needles, fibers or binders. Post-installation cleanup requires no ventilation or protective masks.

Neverthless, to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible, we recommend preparing the following before the arrival of your Termex installer:

  • Allow access for delivery vehicles up to 5 meters from the building
  • Ensure the availability of an electrical connection with at least 230 V and a 16 A fuse
  • Confirm the roof is leak-free and the attic is properly ventilated
  • Provide accurate roof measurements and agree with the contractor on insulation thickness and surface area
  • Combustion flues or chimneys penetrating the insulation layer must be protected with Class A fire-resistant material
  • Enclose roof trusses (rafters) or install vapor barrier film, as agreed upon with the installer
  • For occupied buildings, coordinate with the installer to secure any living areas in case of minor temporary dust during the installation
  • Cellulose insulation is highly airtight, which can prevent ventilation of heat-emitting components like halogen lights or transformers.
Like any highly effective insulation, this could lead to overheating if such components are not properly protected.
Therefore, these elements (as well as any exposed electrical wiring) must be shielded with appropriate enclosures before insulation is applied.

Responsibility for the proper installation of safety covers lies with the installer and is based on information provided by the building owner.

Important note: Manufacturers of lighting fixtures prohibit direct contact between light sources and insulation.
Installing such devices directly in the insulation layer violates all applicable safety regulations.
